Ghanaian social commentator Naana Donkor Arthur, who is based in the United States, has confirmed that her dog has been deported after U.S. authorities denied entry upon her return from Ghana.

According to Naana Donkor Arthur, she recently travelled to Ghana for a holiday and returned to the United States with her dog. She stated that the dog successfully passed through procedures at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra and boarded the flight to the United States without issue.
However, upon arrival at the U.S. airport, authorities reportedly refused to allow the dog entry into the country. Naana Donkor Arthur explained that officials informed her that certain mandatory health checks and documentation required for animals entering the United States had not been completed prior to travel.
As a result, the dog was deported back to Ghana.
Naana Donkor Arthur further disclosed that a close relative, identified as Ezra, is currently waiting at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra to receive the dog and take care of it until further notice.
Speaking on the incident, Naana Donkor Arthur expressed sadness over the development, noting that she would deeply miss the dog. She described the situation as emotionally difficult but urged others to learn from her experience by ensuring all necessary procedures are followed when travelling with pets internationally.
The incident has sparked conversations online about international travel regulations involving pets, with many calling for greater public awareness of animal import requirements.
Voice of the Nation will continue to follow the story and provide updates as they become available.
